Upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX will offer several new bits as the brand’s first electric vehicle
Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming electric car is set ot begin production in early 2025. Showcased as the eVX Concept at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, the upcoming e-SUV showed more mature design closer to the production-spec model. Not just that, similar test modules have been caught testing on Indian roads several times. It indicates that the automaker plans to unveil its first electric SUV in India by earl next year.
Design & Interior
The exterior design offers simple yet surreal design unlike any Maruti car in India, committing to the brand’s future electric car portfolio in India. It will offer LED DRLs on the front with aggressive from facia and lifted bumper, while the rear offers connected LED lights with rear diffuser and more futuristic appeal.
On the interior, the eVX offers a significant design change compared to brand’s current offering. The electric car will feature several updates to its cabin with more luxurious interior and material choices with comfortable seating and loads of tech. It will offer several features such as ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, powered front seats, wireless charging, HUD and more.
Powertrain & Safety
On the performance front, Maruti Suzuki eVX will offer two configuration options with 40kWh and a 60kWh variant, capable of delivering a range of 550 Km on a single charge. The eVX is built on Toyota’s new 27PL skateboard platform dedicated towards EVs. The EV will offer several features such as DC fast charging and Vehicle to Load abilities to make up with the new-age tech.
It will sports a new two-spoke steering, a single pane sunroof, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, all LED lighting system with auto-dimmingIRVM, standard six airbags, rotary drive selector, etc. More safety features with include electronic parking brake, EBD, ABS, auto hill decent control, traction control and more.
India launch & Rivals
Latest spy images shows more in-depth details of the car’s exterior while still being camouflaged, offering more premium appeal for its segment. The eVX will compete with upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Harrier EV, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, Citroen Basalt EV, and the Mahindra XUV400 EV. It is set for 2025 launch and will come at a pricetag of around Rs. 25-30 Lakh (Ex-showroom).
