New Affordable Bajaj Chetak leaked, new details previews a price cut along with downgraded features

Bajaj Auto is working on a new ‘affordable Chetak’, set for May launch in India. The upcoming Chetak will focus on the more affordable segment in the brand’s lineup, aiming at a wide variety of customers as an entry towards EV adoption. Bajaj’s upcoming e-scooter leaked via several images where it was parked at a dealership. New images offer a much closer look at its design and features along with its new pricing.

With the new Ola S1X lineup and the Ather 450S, the industry has also notices a key highlight where a company release their flagship product and then downgrade it to make it more affordable for mass audience. This shift is clearly present in both automakers and tech manufacturers, aimed at to offer a wide variety of products and cater customer demands. This helps in both sales volume and customer base who choose to opt for an affordable option.

The upcoming affordable version of the new Chetak was seen in a bright oceean blue paint scheme and noticable downgrades compared to its elder siblings. It has been developed for the youth with its new striking paint job with several bits, cutting its price down. The e-scooter features new steel wheels along with drum brakes compared to the stylish alloy wheels with disc brakes, aiming towards more affordabilty .

In terms of features, the TFT instrument cluster in the top-spec Premium variant is replaced by a simpler monochrome LCD display to cut the cost down. The affordable Chetak features two deep cubby holes instead of a dedicated front storage. It also ditches keyless ignition system and has opted for a conventional physical key, similar to the new Ola S1X lineup.

While powertrain details are currently unavailable, the new Chetak will use the battery pack from the Chetak Urbane, offering a claimed range of 113 kilometers on a single charge. Performance figures will also take a back seat with the emphasis on maximizing range and delivering adequate performance with impressive driving pleasure the lineup is known for .
