Ampere electric launched its new Nexus electric scooter in two variants in India

Ampere Electric, a Greaves Cotton-own brand has revealed its latest electric scooter, the Nexus in the Indian E2W market. This scooter is the company’s most tech-savy and advanced scooter till date and is the top premium e-scooter you can buy right now.

Ampere showcased its production spec NXG Concept at the Auto Expo 2023 and since than has been caught testing on roads. Since its debut. the company made significant difference to its final model . The electric scooter is now more suited for families and offers terrific performance for its price. Ampere developed the Nexus with its in-house design and manufacturing at its Tamil Nadu facility.

Talking about the performance, the Ampere Nexus packs a large 3kWh battery made with LFP chemical tech, capable of delivering a driving range of 136 Km on a single charge. The scooter offers a mid-mounter motor capable of a power output of 4kWh and can achieve a top speed of 93 km/h. The company has also offered a new ‘Limp Mode’ in the scooter that turns on when the battery percentage falls below 20% mark, protecting its battery from rapid degradation. The scooter claims a total charging time of just 3.5 hours to charge it.

The scooter rides on 12-inch wheels with 90/90 section tires. The Ampere Nexus offers a new telescopic front fork suspension with dual rear shock absorbers. It features a drum brake at the rear while the front comes with disc brake functionality. The company has also stated it features a new swingarm design that houses its electric motors, offering more smooth performance and better power delivery.

More features and Colour options

The Nexus comes equipped with a 6.2-inch LCD display or a larger 7-inch color touchscreen display depending upon the variant. Both screens can be controlled via a switchgear on both sides of the handlebar. It offers five riding modes and also comes with hill-hold feature similar to Ola and Ather. Apart from that the e-scooter comes equipped with bluetooth connectivity and a full LED lighting setup as standard.

It continues to offer its minimal and clean design, with its family-friendly appeal compared to the sporty-designed scooters in the segment. Ampere has offered its Nexus electric scooter in four colour options – Indian Red, Steel Grey, Lunar White, and Zanskar Aqua.

Ampere has offered its Nexus electric scooter in two variants. The base variant with its 6.2-inch LCD screen starts at Rs 1.1 lakh (ex-showroom). While the larger 7-inch display variant costs Rs 1.2 lakh (ex-showroom). Both prices are introductory and are set to increase by Rs. 10,000 after a while. Ampere has started bookings for its new e-scooter, with deliveries commencing at the end of May.
