While the global rollout of Toyota’s Fortuner MHEV and Hilux MHEV has been gradual, India still wants the conventional Fortuner and Hilux models with any hybrid tech. Currently, the company’s lineup in India comprises petrol, CNG, strong hybrid, and diesel variants with some offerings made in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki.

Given the popularity of the full-sized Fortuner SUV and positive feedback for the Hilux pickup truck, it’s not unusual to think that the Japanese automaker will introduce its strong hybrid technology this year or in 2025. Enthusiasts are also excited for Toyota’s first proper electric car launch in India next year with their first mass-market electric vehicle, aligning closely with Suzuki’s eVX, premiered at the Tokyo Motor Show.
